The Orchard Event Venue and Retreat Azle, Texas Jodi and Tyler kicked off my spring wedding season this past weekend and it was a blast! Though it was a dreary day with impending rain, everyone was in the best of spirits and the weather held out for their beautiful outdoor ceremony! Jodi and Tyler’s ceremony […]
Vanessa and Taylor were one of my first weddings of 2019 and I can’t think of a better way to start the year than celebrating two good friends! It’s always a joy photographing marriages, but it’s even more rewarding when they’re two of your best friends! It’s been a privilege getting to know these two the past few years which made their wedding day all the more special. I’ve learned when photographing friends I have a much harder time narrowing down the photos, so I apologize in advance for the extra-long blog post!
Vanessa and Taylor are two of the most genuine, dedicated friends and you could see that in all the people that were there to support them on their day! They were surrounded by so many loved ones and I know everyone was thrilled for these two to finally be tying the knot! Even the weather was in their favor – we had wonderful sunshine and warmth all throughout their January wedding day.
Vanessa worked as a wedding coordinator this past summer so I wasn’t surprised that she had so many beautiful details to photograph! The black bridesmaid dresses were so unique and classy and paired perfectly with their beautiful pink and red flowers. In the spirit of Valentine’s week, this wedding is a perfect fit for the blog today!
Enjoy some of my favorites from Vanessa and Taylor’s day and a huge congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. Birkner!!
Katrina and Ryan came all the way from Houston for their shoot and I had a wonderful time getting to know them both better! They are tying the knot this September at Olde Dobbin Station in Montgomery – one of my favorite Houston venues. We had the perfect day for their winter engagement session with lots of sunshine!
Katrina and Ryan knew of each other because they were in the same high school class, but they didn’t connect with one another until Katrina’s college senior year. Ryan knew Katrina enjoyed playing tennis, so he invited her to play tennis with him. Turns out Ryan didn’t have the best hand-eye coordination so they ended up laughing most of the evening! Thankfully they hit it off and the rest is history. Katrina and Ryan are such a sweet, laid-back couple, it’s obvious they are meant for one another!
Katrina and Ryan, many congratulations on your engagement and upcoming wedding. I can’t wait to celebrate with you in September!!
Since the weather is so unpredictable this time of year, Lauren and Miles decided they wanted an indoor engagement session so they booked the Lumen Room in Dallas for their shoot! The Lumen room is full of natural light and fun props making it the perfect place for an indoor engagement.
Lauren and Miles first met in the children’s ministry section of their church. They were introduced by the children’s director when they were passing by one another. They didn’t see each other for a while after that, but kept hoping they’d cross paths again. Mile’s ended up emailing Lauren letting her know he’d like to see her again! His persistence paid off and I can’t wait to celebrate with these two at the Ashton Gardens in Corinth this coming May.
Together Miles and Lauren enjoy being outdoors, going to dog parks and playing Settlers of Catan! I’m also a huge fan of Catan, so I was thrilled when they brought it along to their engagement session. It was so fun capturing them playing one of their favorite games! I hope you enjoy looking through a few of my favorites from this fun, laid-back engagement session. Lauren and Mile’s, many congratulations to you both and I can’t wait for your big day!
Abby and Jake had a gorgeous outdoor ceremony early January at the Gladney Center in Fort Worth, Texas. Since we’re in Texas, the winter weather ranges from the extremes of freezing ice to “better than spring” weather. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day for Abby and Jake’s gorgeous outdoor ceremony. The sun was shining with a cool breeze along with a beautiful sunset to end their day. Abby and Jake’s day was full of personal details, my favorite being the exquisite florals that Jake (the groom!) assembled for their day! Jake did a wonderful job, making Abby’s bouquet all the more special.
I love that they incorporated their Aggie Spirit with little touches throughout the day. During the ceremony, Abby and Jake incorporated a Century Tree Seedling by pouring soil into the pot of the newly grown tree. For my non-Aggie readers, the Century tree is an old live oak tree that holds the tradition that if a couple walks under the branches of the tree, they are destined to be together forever! Abby and Jake acquired a seedling through the “Aggie Century Tree Project” which began as a fundraiser for A&M scholarships. Century Tree seedlings are grown from acorns harvested from the Century Tree then sold to raise money for scholarships.
I hope you enjoy looking through these photos as much as I did taking them! Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. Landry, I wish you both many years of joy and happiness!
I’m so excited to share my last wedding of 2018 and boy, was it a party! The Henley family is so fun, and I’m honored that I’ve been able to capture both Kendall and Karinne’s wedding! I actually first met Kendall several years ago in College Station when I photographed her senior portraits – whoop! Kendall and Connor had a gorgeous winter wedding at the Farmhouse just outside of Houston. I always love getting to shoot at the Farmhouse, the white walls and huge chandeliers are absolutely stunning.
Connor had the sweetest reaction to Kendall walking down the aisle and they had a beautiful ceremony inside the chapel at the Farmhouse. After the ceremony everyone danced the night away to Danny Ray Acoustic – such a fun band! I hope you enjoy looking through these photos as much as I did taking them. Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. Yancy, I wish you many years of joy and happiness!
Morgan and Shaughn had a lovely late fall wedding at the Springs in Weatherford. Even though it had been very cold the weeks surrounding their wedding, thanks to the crazy, sporadic, Texas weather, they were blessed with a beautiful, sunny day! The leaves were turning at the Springs leading to beautiful orange and red tones as a backdrop for their ceremony.
Morgan was a gorgeous bride donning a stunning Maggie Sottero dress. She and Shaughn had the sweetest first look outdoors by the fountain as they took in a few peaceful moments together. Their ceremony began moments before the sun set as they exchanged their heartfelt vows. They ended the night in the adjacent reception hall visiting with friends and family and dancing the night away. Many thanks to you Morgan and Shaughn for trusting me to capture your amazing day! I wish you both all the best in your marriage!!
This session reminds me of something out of a Wes Anderson movie! When Mary and Patrick showed up with their Tandem bike that they were learning to ride, I was pretty excited! Mary and Patrick are both into the 50’s vibe so this session fit them perfectly. Together they enjoy drive-ins, old movies, ice cream, antiques, tandem biking, and kayaking!
Mary and Patrick first met when they were juniors in high school. Mary had just transferred to Temple High and was the shy new kid. That particular day she was feeling bold and wanted to make a new friend so she complimented the boy sitting behind her in German class that was wearing a Star Trek shirt. That boy happened to be Patrick and he was a little surprised by her compliment, but after class they walked together and chatted becoming instant friends.
One day they had a 50’s themed date planned and Patrick borrowed a 1957 Bel-Air from his friend and they went to the movie theater that showed old movies to see West Side Story. After the movie they got bobba tea, visited 2 antique shops and ended their date strolling through the park. Patrick popped the question at the park and Mary of course said yes!
They are getting married next June at the Chapel at Caliber Oak in Temple, Texas and I can’t wait! Mary and Patrick are two peas in a pod and I’m so happy they’ve found one another. Many congratulations to the future Mr. and Mrs.!
Amanda and Ki-Young both have hearts of gold and it’s clear they were made for one another! Ki-Young came all the way from Chicago then these two drove up from Houston for their session! Thankfully, we were blessed with one of the prettiest days of the week. We had absolutely perfect light and weather and have I mentioned that I’m obsessed with this spot in Fort Worth!?
Amanda and Ki-Young met at a birthday party in Austin, but didn’t become friends until almost a year later when Ki-Young was planning to move to Chicago where Amanda happened to be living at the time. Together they love long drives and visiting cozy coffee shops! Amanda eventually moved back to Texas, but they kept up their relationship long distance through phone calls and occasional visits.
Ki-Young is quite the romantic, even living in different states, he made the effort to meet Amanda’s parents to ask for their daughter’s hand in marriage! When he was ready to propose, he secretly flew to Houston with one of Amanda’s best friends, Alexis. Without letting Amanda know he was in town he waited at Hermann Park while Alexis and Amanda went to the park to “hang out.” At the park, Alexis lead Amanda to the spot where Ki-Young was hiding where he proceeded to ask Amanda to marry him! Amanda of course, said “Yes!” and these two are tying the knot next July in Houston! Amanda and Ki-Young, I’m honored to be a part of this exciting season of life for you both and I can’t wait for the day you become husband and wife!!
Now that I’m back from the amazing Showit United conference, it’s going to be a week full of engagement sessions on the blog and Nicki and Joe are the first up! We had the perfect weather for their engagement session! It’s been so dreary around here lately, I was thankful for a few days of sunshine which came just in time for all my sessions. I met up with Nicki and Joe at Buffalo Bayou Park for their engagement session and I could tell right off that bat it was going to be a good time. Nicki and Joe are both so laid back and fun, I had a great time getting to know them both better during their session! This park proved to be the perfect location and it had a beautiful view of the city – almost made it look like it was glowing as the sun set!
Nicki and Joe first met when they were interns for the same company. They both had crushes on each other, but Joe didn’t get the courage up to take Nicki on a date until almost two years later! When Joe was ready to ask Nicki to marry him, he got all their friends and family on board for a surprise proposal for Nicki! Joe casually asked Nicki out one Friday night to the restaurant where he had the surprise planned, but ironically Nicki was worn out from the week and almost didn’t go. Thankfully she changed her mind and the surprise proposal was on! Joe took Nicki to the place where they had their first dinner date. When they arrived they were welcomed into a private room where they placed a drink order. Instead of the drinks they ordered, the servers brought out champagne and Joe asked Nicki to marry him as the doors to the room were opened and all their family could share in the moment!
I can’t wait to celebrate with these two next June for their wedding at the McGovern Garden’s in Houston! Many congratulations to the future Mr. and Mrs.!
